

The Times: Gift cards may be a simple solution to buying for tricky relatives, yet too often the cards lapse or the shop goes into administration before they can be used.
This week Fairer Finance, a consumer group, called for expiry dates on cards to be banned after it was found that more than £300 million a year is lost in cards that have been misplaced, expired, or the companies have gone bust. The group wants assurances that retailers will ring-fence the proceeds from cards bought in the past five years, so that refunds are available should a business go into administration.
